Since 2015, Off-Road Outreach (ORO) has been a beacon of hope for homeless veterans in Fayetteville, North Carolina, thanks to its founder Stacey Buckner and the iconic, specially outfitted Jeep that brings essential support directly to those in need. A stroke and traumatic brain injury transformed Buckner's life, strengthening her commitment to serve others. Motivated by faith and a sense of purpose, she dedicated herself to addressing the gaps in resources for homeless veterans. Through mobile showers, food, medical aid, and companionship, ORO provides critical services in the field. It also offers mental health support, suicide prevention training, and peer support—resources that give struggling veterans renewed hope. As an all-volunteer nonprofit, ORO ensures that every dollar received goes directly to these life-changing programs, a dedication that has earned Buckner recognition as a CNN Hero, among other honors.
